Privacy Policy

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how InmiMood ("the App") handles user data.

The App is a personal journaling tool for logging "earworm" songs (songs stuck in your head), your mood, how the song came up, and contextual notes about your environment or activity at the time.

This version replaces the prior policy to accurately reflect features added since June 18, 2026, including cross-device sync and on-device AI. If anything below is unclear, contact us using the details at the end of this policy.

Information We Collect

The App stores the following data that you voluntarily enter:

Song information (titles, artists, and related metadata)
Your mood at the time of the entry, and the song's mood, each recorded as a numeric score
Context about how the song came up (e.g., triggers or associations)
Optional free-text notes describing what you were doing or feeling at the time
Timestamps associated with each entry
App settings and preferences

The App does not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or other direct identifiers. If you choose to include any of that in your free-text notes, it becomes part of your entry like any other note content.

Mood and health data. Your mood scores and mood-related notes are health information. We treat this data with the same care as the rest of your journal: it is never used for advertising, sold, or shared with third parties, and it stays under your control as described below.

On-Device AI and Your Personal Profile

The App can use on-device AI (Apple Intelligence / Apple's Foundation Models, on supported devices) to build a short written summary of patterns in your journal — things like recurring situations, relationships, or emotional patterns you've written about. We call this your profile.

This processing happens entirely on your device. Your journal entries are never sent to us, to Apple, or to any other party to generate this profile.
The profile is stored on your device as an encrypted file. The encryption key is stored in your device's Keychain, separate from the file itself.
Like the rest of your journal, this profile is included in your device's encrypted iCloud backup (see below) so it can be restored if you get a new device — it is not otherwise transmitted anywhere.
Devices that don't support Apple Intelligence don't generate this profile; the App works normally without it.
You can delete your profile at any time by deleting your data in the App (see "Your Choices" below).

How Your Data Is Used

All data is used solely to provide the App's core functionality:

Recording and organizing your song-related entries
Letting you review your mood and listening patterns over time
Generating your on-device profile (described above) to personalize what the App shows you

We do not use your data for advertising, third-party analytics, or marketing.

Data Storage and Syncing

Where your data lives depends on your device and settings:

On your device. All entries and your profile are stored locally in the App's own storage.
iCloud device backup (iOS). If you have iCloud Backup turned on for your device, your entries and encrypted profile are included in your regular device backup, the same way your other apps' data is. This is a passive, automatic process controlled by your iOS settings, not something the App initiates on its own.
iCloud sync via CloudKit (iOS). If you're signed into iCloud, the App also actively syncs your entries across your own devices using Apple's CloudKit service, so the same journal is available on your iPhone and iPad, for example. This sync is scoped to your private iCloud account: Apple encrypts it in transit and at rest, we cannot access your synced data through this channel, and it is not shared with other users or other apps.
Google Drive sync (Android). If you sign in with your Google account on Android, the App syncs your entries to a private, app-specific storage area in your Google Drive (Google's "app data" folder). This area is not visible in your regular Drive file list and is not accessible to us or to other apps. Signing in is optional; the App works without it, without cross-device sync.

We do not operate our own backend database or remote server for storing your journal data. Sync happens through Apple's and Google's infrastructure as described above, scoped to your personal account.

Other Services the App Uses

Song search. When you search for a song while logging an entry, your search text is sent in real time to Apple's Music and iTunes search services to find matching songs. This happens the same way any app's search-as-you-type feature works; we don't store or retain your search queries ourselves.
Music playback token. To search Apple Music, the App requests a short-lived access token from a small server we operate (hosted on Cloudflare). This request includes your device's IP address, which is processed only to serve the request and is not logged or retained.
Feedback email. If you choose to email us feedback from within the App, that email includes only the app version and platform (iOS/Android) you're using, plus whatever you choose to write. This is entirely optional and user-initiated.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing.

Your data passes through Apple's and Google's infrastructure only as described above — for syncing your own data across your own devices, and for song search — and only because those services are how the relevant feature works. We do not otherwise share, transmit, or provide access to your journal entries, mood data, or on-device profile to anyone.

Data Security

Your data is protected using the security mechanisms provided by your device and by Apple's and Google's platforms, including device-level encryption, Keychain-protected encryption keys, and Apple's private CloudKit database isolation.

While we design the App carefully, no system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your Choices

You have control over your data:

You can edit or delete individual entries at any time within the App.
You can delete all of your data from within the App. This removes your entries from your device and, where applicable, from cloud sync.
You can turn off iCloud Backup or iCloud sync at any time in your device's system settings.
On Android, you can sign out of Google to stop Drive sync at any time.
Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data. If iCloud Backup is on, your data may still exist in a device backup until that backup is deleted or overwritten — this is controlled by your iOS settings, not the App.

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We'll update this policy when we add or change features that affect how your data is handled, and update the "Last Updated" date above. If a change is significant, we'll aim to make that clear in the App as well.
